This is our second official video, created at Galerie Pangee for the first edition of EN MASSE. Featured near the end of the video are some shots of the closing party, which was a part of Montreal’s Nuit Blanche festivities. Despite the sub-sub temperatures outside and inside the gallery (with the door opened all night to -30 C temperatures!), we had well over 1500 visitors to the space in what became one of the great highlights of that years all-night-art-celebrations!

This video has been shot at the Botkin Palace last february. The video follows twenty-four artists in pre-production of thirty 5’0″ x 3’0″ sheets of back lit velum that would be featured at the “Arts Sousterrains” showcase, for Montreal’s 2010 Nuit Blanche festivities at Eaton Center.

On 7 November, 2010, a team of 10 En Masse artists assembled in the 7ième ciel (“seventh heaven”) room at Cirque du Soleil Montreal headquarters. They flipped through a provided assortment of Cirque du Soleil books, examining images from the company’s productions to get their imaginations flowing, and then approached a bank of canvases, five metres squared, with paint and brushes in hand. Last month, En Masse drove up to Ste-Foy, Quebec, to work on 4 walls of 16′ x 16′. Including 2 members from Quebec City and 4 of the Montreal side of the project, the En Masse crew worked on a period of 5 days to accomplish this piece of work. Thanks to La Maison Simons for allowing us to screw around with their walls.
Le mois dernier, En Masse a visité Ste-Foy, Québec, pour réaliser quatre murales de 16′ x 16′. Les membres d’En Masse, 4 de Montréal et 2 de Québec, on travaillé sur une période de 5 jours pour arriver à realiser ces murales. La vidéo relate de leur aventure. Merci à La Maison Simons de nous avoir permis de jouer avec leur murs.
